BTW, I have since installed an HD muffler.
Much easier than removing the baffle.

But if you want to remove the baffle, what I had to do was:
1)Remove the rivets (The muffler will still be pretty well stuck in there even after the rivets are removed.

2)I used a gear puller with a piece of wood.

The gear puller looked like this.

[]
xxxxxxxxxx
x v x
xx xx

Two "arms" that do the pulling and then a threaded piece in the middle that pushes.

3)In order for the "arms" to grab something I had to punch some holes into baffle .

4)Then I used a piece of wood to placed across the back of the muffler. The wood was for the gear puller's threaded piece to push against.

5)Now once the baffle is out, there is a flange that the baffle used to sit against inset inside the back of the muffler. This flange makes the exhaust note sound really wired. So I flattend it down.

PHEW!

After all was said and done. It turned out to be a lot of work.

Then I few months later I found a HD mufler on Ebay for $9.00. That is the way to go.
